Our AI Compass: More space for what matters

We use AI where it takes work off our hands and frees up time for creativity and real dialogue. We remain those who make decisions and take responsibility.

For us, AI is a tool, not a replacement.

It can research, organize, and produce drafts. But attitude, empathy, and a good sense of what our clients need? That’s still up to us.

We evaluate technology based on its utility, not its promises. This ensures we don’t produce generic results, but rather work with a distinctive touch. That gives us space for what’s essential.

Specifically, this means:

More room for the human perspective

AI helps us managing routine tasks – so we have more time for what truly defines us.

We use AI strategically

We look beyond the hype and evaluate technologies based on their value. We use generative models when they simplify repetitive work and improve our output. We always ask ourselves: Does this truly benefit our clients and us? This is how we create room for creativity, strategy, and genuine dialogue.

Humans remain in charge

Communication happens between people. Creativity, attitude, and empathy are genuinely human qualities – they cannot be automated. That’s why at PIO, humans always remain the ones who assess, decide, and take responsibility. As strategists, makers, and creatives, we are our own most important resource.

We share our knowledge

Through training, workshops, and open discourse, we empower every member of the team to use AI systems responsibly. We encourage people to ask questions, voice concerns, and share experiences. Only by coming together we can meaningfully integrate AI into our work.

Better quality through human oversight

AI is powerful, but not infallible. Having a human involved in the process ensures quality.

Human-in-the-loop as the standard

AI systems can make mistakes, misweight relationships, or suggest misleading conclusions. That’s why we always keep humans in the process: we critically review results, verify facts, and scrutinize sources. Content generated by generative models always undergoes a fact-check and quality control. This is how we comply with the guiding principles of the EU AI Act and continuously learn from every process.

Transparency builds trust

We make visible which tools we use and where AI is part of our processes. We clearly communicate when AI is used in projects and provide transparency on the role it plays. No black box, but open communication – within the team and with our clients.

We continue to evolve

AI technologies are constantly evolving – and we develop along with them. Our AI Compass is not a rigid set of rules, but a living commitment. We regularly review whether our approach, processes, and tools align with our standards. When conditions change, we adapt – thoughtfully and with an eye toward the future.

More responsibility for the technology

With greater capabilities comes greater responsibility. We use AI thoughtfully and ethically.

We label synthetic content

Today, AI can generate images and videos that are virtually indistinguishable from real content. We transparently label photorealistic content created using generative models as synthetic. In this way, we provide clarity and promote a responsible use of AI-generated content.

We fight against bias

AI models can contain algorithmic biases. That’s why we critically review results and consciously expand them to include diverse perspectives. This helps to reduce discrimination and embed diversity.

We protect data

We only use applications that meet applicable standards and work with as little sensitive data as possible. Our employees receive regular training on handling data in compliance with the GDPR. Our customers' data is in safe hands.

We shape change together

The use of AI is transforming the way we work. We actively guide this transformation through open dialogue and shared feedback. We listen to our employees, take their concerns seriously, and together we develop solutions. We also maintain close contact with our customers.
