GOLD for Leipzig

Leipzig is taking a second shot, and PIO is part of the team! With a tailor-made concept, we and "GOLD for Leipzig e. V." do not only promote the Olympic idea in our hometown, but also provide the communicative kick-off for the bid for the 2040 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Leipzig initially applied to host the 2012 Games, but unfortunately the Olympic flame was not lit in our historic sports town.

This time, however, the motivation comes from the heart of the townspeople: the initiative “GOLD for Leipzig e.V.” not only gets the ball rolling for the 2040 bid, but also generates city-wide enthusiasm:

73% of Leipzig residents can imagine hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games together with Berlin in their sports-loving home town – significantly more than in any other German candidate city.

PIO supports the Olympic idea with the conception of the “GOLD for Leipzig e.V.” brand, develops the corporate design, creates the website and its content, and manages the social media channels on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram. Whether it's organizing a press conference at QUARTERBACK Immobilien ARENA, media relations which generated nationwide coverage, or through the presence at sporting events such as Leipziger Firmenlauf, SC DHFK handball competitions, the Aufgalopp at Scheibenholz racecourse, or the ICF Slalom World Ranking Race at the Markkleeberg Canoe Park: PIO aims for a long-term impact on the population with the claim

Gemeinsam Großes bewegen!
(Let's move big together!)

and puts the feeling of solidarity and the unifying Olympic spirit at the heart of all communication measures.

“Leipzig is a symbol for diversity, enthusiasm, and passion for sports – we are ready for the Olympics!”
– Mayor Burkhard Jung
