How does AI see your job? Knowledge transfer in the chemical industry

How do you explain a future profession in a way that your target audience will understand and find interesting? A high school in Eilenburg near Leipzig wanted to attempt this and create exhibition spaces to give students an understanding of future prospects in the chemical industry. On behalf of our partner ZAROF, specialized in strategic personnel and organizational development, PIO accepted this challenge – and used generative AI to illustrate in words and images what makes each profession special.

Employer branding for the next generation

High school students will soon have to decide which career path they want to pursue. The challenge for a modern employer branding strategy is how to attract young talent to the chemical industry and make employer brands in traditional industries attractive to digital natives.

Our goal was not only to inform young people about career opportunities, but also to inspire them and introduce them to future technologies such as AI – all with just a handful of posters.

When artificial intelligence explains professions

PIO asked: How can we get students to really engage with the information boards? How can we help them imagine what the professions are like and spark their curiosity?

The answer: The posters must speak for themselves. They should not only explain the future, but also be part of the future themselves. We therefore set the task to the AI tools ChatGPT and MidJourney – and asked: How do you imagine the profession of a chemical laboratory assistant? Of a data scientist? A process engineer?

Innovation as a door opener for young talents

Six eye-catching poster designs were created, introducing students to different career paths. The highlight: we noted the prompts used to generate the text and image content on the poster to encourage students to do the same and create their own prompts.

But was the AI actually right? The students were able to check via a link whether ChatGPT and Midjourney's ideas corresponded to reality – and actively familiarize themselves with their future job opportunities.

The special design of the wall charts not only allowed us to increase the length of time students spent at the posters and convey information about the professions in an appealing way. We also brought the students into direct contact with generative AI and sparked their interest in working with innovative technologies in the future.
